Findlay Curtis: A Positive Performance

FINDLAY CURTIS was delighted to find the net as Rangers saw off Lowland League outfit Bo’Ness 3-1 to get their SPFL Trust Trophy campaign off to a flyer.

David McCallum’s side bounced back from a horror start as Paul Nsio cancelled out Finlay Malcolm’s first minute opener.

Archie Stevens put the Gers youngsters ahead just after the half-hour mark following a mistake in the visitors’ defence allowed the English ace to tuck home.

Before Stevens turned provider to tee up Curtis to coolly slot home the third two minutes before the interval.

Rangers will now play Clyde in the second round next month and the attacker was thrilled with the result.

Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “It was a positive performance from us despite a sloppy start.

“The boys bounce back after moments like that and getting the three goals was good and we could have had more. We have character in this team - and it showed.

“I could have scored a few more but getting any goal is nice. It is about working on these performances.

“The boys worked towards that win and we could have taken more chances, but it was good.”

Rangers reached the last 16 of the competition last term and saw off league sides Spartans, Stenhousemuir and Alloa.

After having a taste of working with Philippe Clement’s first team in the Netherlands and coming on in the friendly against Birmingham City, Curtis believes the competition is the ideal preparation for working with the men’s side.

He added: “I loved being with the first-team and that’s what I am working towards at the minute.

“Playing against Birmingham was great and the fans were brilliant that night. I came on and I thought I did well.

“Playing against men in this competition, I try to be my usual self and perform. We play against Clyde in the next round and they are in League Two, so it is a step up for us.

“But we have to try and get through that as well.”
