ROBBIE Fraser says he prides himself on individual improvement as the full-back gears up for Monday’s clash with Brentford B.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a productive campaign for Gers B and was most recently involved in Philippe Clement’s matchday squad for the Europa League last 16 first leg away to Benfica in midweek.
Speaking to the official Rangers website, Fraser commented: “I value it a lot, especially in the position that I play.
“I want to be providing on a regular basis for the attacking players, and I’m always trying to improve my numbers.
“I always look at them when they’re noted down, and then I’m able to set the next target for myself.
“It’s massively important as it also gives you an insight into whether you’re improving or not.
“You need to be selfish and, in a way, quite narrow minded, to get the best numbers possible.
“I try to get better numbers in every game and improve my chance creation.
“For me, Borna [Barisic] is my immediate competition as he’s the next step up. I need to be looking at his contribution over the years and looking at where I excel or need to improve.”
Fraser was an unused substitute at the Estadio da Luz, but he says he will never take for granted the opportunity to be involved on the European stage for the Light Blues.
The full-back was also delighted to see fellow Academy hopeful, Cole McKinnon, make his European bow for the first-team.
He added: “The buzz is always brilliant leading into a European squad.
“You’re sitting at a table with seasoned professionals, you’re able to learn off them, and you don’t feel like one of the young ones anymore.
“The build-up is always great when you’re playing some of the best clubs in Europe.
“You’re having breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the squad, going on team walks together, hearing their stories in football. It’s brilliant.
“I make sure that I do everything possible to ensure that I’m in the right condition; what I’m eating, how long I’m sleeping, and that my warm-up is on point.
“It means that I’m ready if I’m needed, because injuries can happen at any time in football.”
On the challenge of Brentford B, who will make the trip to the Rangers Training Centre on Monday after the original fixture was postponed in December.
Fraser said: “I know a good few of their players from other clubs.
“I have no doubt that they’re a good team; they’re obviously a Premier League academy so they’ll be at a top level.
“The players will be slightly more experienced, know the cute parts of football, and they’ll be aware of how to manage games.
“It can be more physical and you can feel the intensity in a game when they’re older.”
