DESPITE making seven changes, Steven Gerrard has named an extremely strong XI as Rangers return to action against Cove Rangers in the Scottish Cup this evening.
From the side which played in the Old Firm game at Parkhead a fortnight ago, in come Jon McLaughlin, Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey, Scott Arfield, Kemar Roofe, Jermain Defoe and Scott Wright for his first start.
They take the places of Allan McGregor, Leon Balogun, Borna Barisic, Joe Aribo, Ryan Kent, Ianis Hagi and Alfredo Morelos.
That means it’s a back five of McLaughlin in goals with Patterson, Connor Goldson, Fil Helander and Bassey in front of him.

Arfield is in midfield with Steven Davis and Glen Kamara, while up front, Wright and Roofe play in support of Defoe.
McGregor, Hagi, Kent, Aribo, Morelos and Balogun all make the bench for Gers tonight with Jack Simpson, Cedric Itten and Greg Stewart completing the bench.
