The Gers captain believes the whole squad will be key as they head into a busy period of fixtures in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.
Speaking to RangersTV ahead of tomorrow’s game against Hearts, she said: “It has been really good to be back, obviously it was difficult again going into a second lockdown but credit to the girls they kept themselves really fit and in good shape.
“We have managed to pick up from where we left off and are trying to build on that so the last few weeks have been really good at training.
“We are starting to look sharper so that can only give us confidence going into Sunday's game.”
“We will have 14 games in a short space of time and we are going to need to try and win all of them if we can. It has been such a tight league so it is important to get sharpness back as quick as possible.”
Gemmell praised the squad for their commitment to keeping fit over the lockdown period and feels it has allowed them to up their preparations ahead of the league restart.
She continued: “It means you can start at a decent intensity and you are building from there and people are not trying to get fit again.
“All of the girls have really taken pride in their fitness and have really been looking after themselves so it is a credit to them that they have had the focus and determination to do that.
“You can see how these girls are wanting to drive that forward and it is really admirable.”
Looking ahead to Sunday’s trip to Edinburgh, Gemmell is expecting a tough match. She added: “There's not a lot of time so we need to get focused and we need to hit the ground running and we are well aware of that.
“I think every game is going to be difficult. It doesn't matter what team you are playing.
“You have to make the same preparations whether it is a top league side or a bottom league side. I think you have to give the teams that respect so we are expecting a tough game.
“We are looking really sharp and moving the ball really well and it is just about taking all that into the game because every point is going to count.”
