First-half goals from Ianis Hagi and James Tavernier made it a comfortable evening for Gers – although the manager would have liked his side to have added more, albeit they broke a club record by making it six clean sheets from six to start the season.
Speaking postmatch to RangersTV, the manager explained: "We are very happy and it has been so far, so good this season with just the one blip at Livingston.
“The lads deserve a lot of credit keeping clean sheets - which is a fantastic record to have and they deserve a lot of praise for that.
“We are spreading goals around the team and it was great to see Ianis on the scoresheet and Tav, as Tav has had a couple of those moments so I am pleased for him.
“What I would say, is we still need to get better in the final third - I thought we were wasteful on a lot of occasions today to go and make it three, four and five-nil.
“I thought Hamilton were there for a stronger scoreline, but we take the win, we take the clean sheet, we take the three points and we move on.
“I thought our mentality and our attitude were really good. We respected Hamilton, and we had to after what happened to us a few months ago.
But I think when I watch the game back, come the end of the game I'll be saying to myself, 'that should have been a stronger scoreline' as our play up to a certain point was fantastic, and then you are relying on your players at the top end of the pitch to go and get you three goals and four goals.
"If you are player that is selected in the front half of the pitch, that was a game where you should have had a number - either a goal or an assist as we didn't get enough goals today."
The clean sheet today was kept intact in the second half by a fine save from Jon McLaughlin, with Gerrard delighted with the competition he has between him and Allan McGregor.
The boss continued: "From a defensive point of view, our organisation and our base has been really strong so far and we need to continue that, but I think that is a collective effort.
"Allan and Jon have been superb, but unfortunately Allan got an injury and Jon has taken his chance, but Allan will still get opportunities to play as he has done an awful lot for us.
“So we have two fantastic goalies and I am in a really good position as a manager to have them.
“We are pleased with the squad. Everyone is pushing to start and everyone is training well and giving me headaches which is pleasing.
"We still want to make the squad stronger in one or two areas if we can - obviously Jamie Murphy has gone the other way today and we wish him well.
"Unfortunately for Jamie, he couldn't win his place back after that long injury, but his attitude has been fantastic so hopefully he can go and play football and enjoy playing week-to-week again.
“So we will see how the next couple of weeks present themselves, but I am still looking to make the squad we have stronger, but I am certainly happy so far."
Gers now have a big number of the squad heading off on international duty, with Gerrard adding: "We wish them well and we are proud to have international players and we hope they o and represent the club in the right way and we hope they come back healthy, of course.
"I am hoping to have a real selection dilemma when we come back to play Dundee United as I am hoping to have Joe Aribo back, Jermain Defoe and Leon [Balogan] was back in the squad today.
“So that is how we need to be as a squad - it needs to be very difficult to pick 11 and it is at the moment."
