The Gers gaffer, who also received the Premiership Manager of the Month award for the same period after five league wins and a draw, has been hugely impressed with Kent’s electric form, with the 23-year-old finding the net three times from his six appearances in 2020/21 so far.
Gerrard, speaking at this morning’s pre-match press conference at the club’s training centre ahead of tomorrow’s Premiership match against Dundee United at Ibrox, said: "I think without being biased Ryan certainly deserves to be Player of the Month. He is in sensational form, he's looking really sharp at the moment and he looks really happy and settled here.
"He's had a full pre-season under his belt and, his red card against Lyon aside, I think he's been fantastic to watch and work with. So I'm very pleased for Ryan and it is fully deserved.
“His mentality and application has been top class. He's scoring goals, looking very dangerous and playing with freedom.
"Yes, he's starting from his normal left side position, but I think he's really taking it to opposition teams and he's trying to cause as much damage as he can from different areas.
"In terms of my award it's a collective reward for the staff and the support I've had during the lockdown, during pre-season and up to now in the season.
"We also have to recognise the job the players have done because the awards don’t come unless your players are playing consistently and collectively and contributing results. So I certainly receive my award as a collective."
This weekend’s game will see James Tavernier make his 250th appearance for Rangers and Gerrard is thrilled that the club’s captain has reached this milestone having moved to Ibrox from Wigan Athletic in July 2015.
‘Tav’ has an incredible return average of one goal in every five games whilst he has averaged one assist in just over every three games, which highlights his significant contribution in light blue.
The manager said: "He's very important. He's the captain of the team and he`s someone who is very much appreciated within the walls of the training ground and the stadium.
"He's always available, he's very rarely missed a session and he always puts his neck on the line for the team. He's very selfless how he goes about his work so he's very much appreciated by all of us.
"He's in a fantastic place so long may that continue. He's had a good rest so I'm expecting another strong performance from him tomorrow."
