STEVEN GERRARD is looking for a strong performance from his side in tomorrow’s first away league fixture of the season against Dundee United.
The Gers manager spoke to the press today ahead of the squad travelling to Tannadice and highlighted the teams’ expectations as they prepare to face Thomas Courts’ side.
He said: “Dundee United look like they are playing out more from the back but there is still a battle with quality in the forward positions. We will have to go and put in a real strong performance and win the battle.
“We will be without Ianis Hagi, however Roofe is available to return to the group. Kamara will return to the squad and Morelos is available, but he will need a couple of sessions on his return.
“The challenge in the next 7 days is what comes with being part of Rangers.”
The Light Blues’ boss underlined the players continual development and the support that they receive from the coaching staff, adding: “We are always looking for marginal gains, we are a coaching staff that has a lot of meetings. It is non-stop in terms of giving everyone the support they need to improve all these players.
“Glen's [Kamara] progress has been brilliant, and he has become a real established international player. I love the kid and the player, and I want him to stay.
Rangers are set to welcome a full capacity back to Ibrox next week after 18 months and Gerrard spoke about his excitement to finally welcome the fans back, saying: “Everyone connected with the club has been craving the full house, to get it back in full noise we are really looking forward to Tuesday but for now all our focus is on a real tough battle tomorrow.
“I am so pleased for the fans as they have been so patient.”
