The Ibrox gaffer oversaw all his players working for the first time yesterday afternoon after arriving in the Emirate on Monday evening.
That was then followed by a double-session today as Gerrard and his staff fine-tune the players for what is set to be a massively exciting few months ahead.
Speaking to RangersTV earlier today, Gerrard explained: “We’re on day three right now and we have already tuned the players back in physically and mentally. They have all had a week off and sometimes when you have had the week off, it takes a day or two to really get back and settled-in.
“We’ve then started today tactically again out of possession to really hit home the messages of what we want going forward.
“Then, obviously, we have changed it from last year in terms of putting a friendly in where the players will play 45 minutes each to get used to real football again.
The Light Blues are based this week at the world-class Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex, which has absolutely everything they could wish for in order to be best-prepared for the challenges ahead.
Gerrard is thrilled with what is available to his side – and adding to that, warm sunshine with temperatures of around 25-degrees.
“The facilities are stunning – really top, top-level,” continued the boss. “The pitches are fantastic, the rehab facilities are superb – we have a couple of injured players with us – there’s the gym facilities and there are a lot of activities to do as well.
“But, it obviously helps if the sun is shining and it is hot as I think you get a better reward for all the hard work you put in.”
The week for Gers will round-off with a friendly match against Uzbekistan Champions Lokomotiv Tashkent – and Gerrard has been outlining the reasoning behind taking on the game.
He added: “We tried an in-house game last year, but with respect, it’s not the same and the motivation is tough for them and they get a bit flat and a little bit pointless.
“We have also got a couple of commercial events where we can interact with our supporters which is important.
“But the key thing is that when we get home, we are ready and we are in a good place preparing for Stranraer for the first game back.”
