Davis, of course, became Northern Ireland’s most capped player when he made his 120th appearance in their Euro 2020 play-off semi-final away to Bosnia & Herzegovina, which ended in a dramatic penalty shoot-out success for Ian Baraclough’s side.
The 35-year-old then played in the Nations League tie against Austria at Windsor Park and, despite a 1-0 defeat, this appearance meant Davis moved clear of England’s Wayne Rooney as the UK’s most capped outfield player with 121. Only one British player is now ahead of him – goalkeeper Peter Shilton who played 125 times for England.
A late substitute appearance in Wednesday’s 1-0 Nations League defeat to Norway in Oslo’s Ullevaal Stadium took Davis up to 122 caps and cemented his place as a Northern Ireland legend.
Kamara also made three international appearances during the international break. He went on a substitute after the hour mark as Finland suffered a 5-1 friendly defeat to Poland in Gdansk on October 7.
They bounced back from that disappointment, however, by recording two Nations League victories over Bulgaria (2-0) on Sunday and Ireland (1-0) on Wednesday in Helsinki, with Kamara a standout in both games.
Against Ireland the Gers star made 73 successful passes before being taken off, with no other player getting close to that number, including those who played the full 90 minutes.
Ryan Jack, meanwhile, impressed for Scotland in the crucial penalty shoot-out victory over Israel at Hampden on October 8, which puts the country just one game away from reaching their first major finals since 1998.
The Rangers ace then made a late substitute appearance in a 1-0 Nations League home victory over Slovakia before he produced a strong display in another 1-0 victory, this time over Czech Republic on Wednesday night, again at Hampden.
When asked about his midfield trio – Davis, Kamara and Jack - at this morning pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Old Firm showdown at Celtic Park, Steven Gerrard said: "I wasn't surprised because they are all fantastic players and it's the reason I have so much faith and trust in the players that you have just mentioned.
“But we've got four centre midfielders all in decent form now which is great for me and hopefully in a couple of weeks we will have Zungu to add to that as well.
“We've got some time while he is in quarantine to try and get him up to speed and get some fitness into him as well. So we are looking forward to having him available as well."
The Rangers boss is looking forward to this weekend’s derby, which of course will be played in front of empty stands because of Covid-19.
Gerrard has a lot of sympathy for fans unable to attend the game and believes players will all have different feelings about the current situation impacting football.
He added: "I think all players will have a different opinion and views on it, if you asked them all individually. My view is you judge them on the results, and I think our results so far have been pretty good.
“I think we have adapted really well and I've been happy with our start to the season. It could be slightly better, of course it could, if you look at certain results that we've had. But to manoeuvre our way into Europe again and find ourselves where we are going into the first Old Firm, I think it's a solid start, a consistent start.
“So I can only judge the players on what I see and the results that they give back. So far they have adapted really well, I've been pleased with them."
