Both men had awkward landings in Sunday’s win over Motherwell to put their participation in Dingwall tomorrow night in doubt as Gers look for another Scottish Premiership victory.
Speaking at today’s press conference, McAllister said: “We have a few little doubts as we took some blows from the game against Motherwell at the weekend. Allan McGregor landed awkwardly, Brandon Barker the same and it was a very strong challenge on him and he spun over and landed awkwardly on his shoulder.
“We are hopeful though on the two lads I mentioned.”
Gers’ win over Motherwell on Sunday was won through a set-piece – this being the sixth time this season the Light Blues have scored from one in the league already.
“It is something we work on diligently all the time,” continued McAllister. “Tom Culshaw takes care of the set-pieces and we spend a lot of time on delivery, movements and little bits of cleverness to try and out-fox the opponents.
“A lot of games, right at the top level of football, are decided by set-pieces. It is important you do spend time practicing – we want to perform at our highest and we want to score nice goals and play little combinations – but, if we are going to win games with set-pieces, that is a big plus.”
The winning goal came from Filip Helander – the Swede greatly impressing McAllister with his recent performances.
The assistant boss added: “I think you are seeing a player who has Serie A experience, and he is also a proven international and you can see that.
“We have waited and we have given him an opportunity to look at our games and look at the physicality that is within the league, and I think he is coming to terms with it now.”
