Susan was elected the member of parliament for Mid Dunbartonshire in July, which includes the club’s training ground and today met women’s first team manager Jo Potter, Women’s and Girls Managing Director Donald Gillies and several of the women’s first team squad.
Speaking to RangersTV, she said: “I was really keen to meet the Rangers Women team obviously because they are women and I want to support the women's football, but also because they are based in Mid Dunbartonshire, have wonderful training facilities and I would like to do everything I can to support the progress of the teams as it goes forward.”
Whilst also having a previous background in diet and nutrition, she spoke of the importance of it within sport.
She added: “Physical fitness is key to success whenever you are talking about sport and nutrition is a really important aspect of that, but I know I also know how exercise physical fitness just aids to everybody's mental well-being and mental health.
“Diet and nutrition is really important for the women's and men's football team, but it is also important for the supporters and the people that follow so you are setting really good role models into the community and giving back that way as well as through the success of the teams.”
Gillies was pleased to meet the member of parliament and hopes it will build strong foundations with the club, he said: “We have had a visit from Susan Murray a member of parliament for Mid Dunbartonshire and she's been up having a look around the facilities, speaking to some of the players and just looking to engage with the club which has been great.
“It is incredibly important to build good relationships with these types of people.
“She is someone who comes across in the short space of time that I got to speak with her as driven towards making a better impact within our community for the people that elected her.
“As we sit within the Milngavie area from the training ground perspective we absolutely recognise the responsibility that we have to engage with the community in that way and so it has been a great opportunity to have that discussion and how we can do that better moving forward.”
