Zander Hutton is first up as the 17-year-old discusses his first Old Firm memory, his love of Breaking Bad, and growing up idolising Cristiano Ronaldo.
The full-back, who has featured prominently for the B Team this campaign, joined the Academy’s full-time programme in 2022 having been part of the club’s schoolboy programme.
He spent last season under the guidance of Cameron Campbell and Steven Smith with the Under-18s, grabbing a goal in the quarter-finals with a terrific strike against Motherwell.
This year, he has featured for Gers B against the likes of Manchester City, Breidablik and Everton.
When did you join Rangers? I first joined the club around three-and-a-half years ago, which was a great feeling.
Who was your first boyhood club? It was Milton in Stirling.
Have you always been a defender or did you play any other positions in the past? I actually started off as a winger, as it typically goes, then I was moved back to full-back.
Who was your football hero growing up and why? Cristiano Ronaldo because of the way he’s worked in football to get to where he is.
What is the first ever Rangers game that you can remember? My memory is generally quite poor, but I remember just turning five-years-old and I recall the Old Firm at Ibrox when we won 4-2 and Steven Naismith scored twice.
What is your go-to pre-match meal? I keep it pretty simple: two slices of bagel, alongside eggs and beans.
What is your favourite cheat meal? It has to be Chinese food.
Do you enjoy playing/watching any other sports? I actually really enjoy playing basketball with a few of my mates. But anything really, to be honest, as I also like tennis as well.
What is currently your favourite TV show? I’m re-watching Breaking Bad at the moment. It’s so good.
What is your best memory in football so far? Signing my first professional contract.
Who is your favourite band or artist? I would say Lil Baby.
Messi or Ronaldo? Definitely Ronaldo.
Who are your three dream dinner guests, dead or alive? Cristiano Ronaldo would definitely be one as I’d love to ask him questions about how he got to that level in football. The basketball fan in me would also love to sit down with Michael Jordan. And lastly, the third one needs to be Jimmy Bullard to add a bit of a laugh.
What is something you have always wanted to achieve in life away from football? I would love to travel the world and explore different countries that I ordinarily wouldn’t really visit.
Most famous person in your contacts list? I don’t actually have many! I’ll go with Steven Smith who is my coach at Under-18s level.
Favourite holiday destination? It would definitely be Australia. Sydney is the best city in the world.
Favourite subject in school? I don’t want to be boring and say P.E. I also enjoy Spanish and Business Management.
Your first pair of football boots? It was a pair of Adidas F50’s.
Which player would you least want to be stuck on a desert island with and why? I’ll go with Archie Stevens because he would be a man down! He wouldn’t know what to do so I’d have to pick up the slack.
