Gilmour Happy With Strong Performance

BRIAN GILMOUR praised Rangers’ B Team for a strong performance as they beat East Stirlingshire 5-1 at the training ground earlier.

The B team joint Head Coach was pleased with how the players dealt with the challenge from the Lowland League side, with five different scorers netting for Gers .

Speaking to RangersTV after the game, he said: “It is obviously pleasing, it is another game in the tank for the boys.

“In terms of the performance they played some good stuff and we were just tidying up a couple of things as always.

“I thought in the second-half they looked strong, aggressive and on the front foot so it was pretty pleasing overall.

“We are looking to try and create as much as we can, and like any team it has got to come from different areas of the pitch and different players looking to try and threaten that back line.

“It is always good that other players are going to chip in with some assists and goals as well.”

Gilmour says they will continue to focus on the work put in in both boxes as they move forward in their games schedule.

He continued: “I think it is always a part that we speak about we are keen to work in both boxes.

“We spoke last week and this week about the ratio to creating chances and finishing and things we need to go and improve on.

“It is something we will continue to address with these young players and it is something we will work towards in training.

“In terms of the programme that is six or seven games we have played against a first-team, so there's a different feeling to it for them.

“There are different scenarios that come with a men's challenge in there as well and I think the players are adapting to it.

“It's something that we are keen to keep in place and keep moving it forward and again, it is the next step on the ladder for these kids regardless of their age.

“The younger ones might take a little bit more time to adjust to the physicality, the tempo and the speed of the game, but it is something that we are well aware of and something we are really pleased to go and see.”
