The B Team Assistant boss praised the Young Gers after a hard-fought match against Gary Jardine’s side in the league campaign. Speaking exclusively to Rangers TV after the away victory, he said: “We were pleased with the result, I think it was a different type of performance.
"It was a difficult surface and weather conditions to play in. The boys handled the physical side of the game, we were really pleased with how they dealt with that.
"It probably wasn’t our most free-flowing performance, but sometimes there are different ways to perform and win and that’s what the game needed today. “It was important to get it [the win]. I thought that period of time we were on top of the game, we played some nice stuff.
"It was some good play and a terrific finish from Juan [Alegria] that set us rolling.
"We probably didn’t create as many chances after Juan’s goal that we could’ve capitalised on, we had a lot of the ball but without real substance at the end of it, which was a bit frustrating, but we are still happy to go 1-0 at the end of the first half.” Gilmour added that the weather and surface conditions presented tough challenges throughout the 90 minutes but insisted that the Light Blues did well to handle those elements. “Whatever is thrown at you, you have to manoeuvre your way through it, and I thought the boys did that well, it wasn’t a game where we were going to string lots of passes – the surface was difficult.
"I thought that they were good for the moments that they had to go and deal with.”
