The Gers boss, who lifted the trophy as a player, believes the squad must continue their ‘hunger and desire’ for trophies as they bid for a place in the last four of the competition.
Speaking to the media at a pre-match press conference this afternoon, van Bronckhorst said: “It is one of the two cups in Scotland, it is silverware and it is a trophy we can win so for me the domestic cup competitions are very important.
“It has been the expectation for years, even when I was a player. My first cup we won in 1998 was the League Cup and it is important to give everything in every competition you face. Each competition is different but we want to win the League Cup so that means we must be ready for Dundee.
“For me personally, I want to win every competition I am in but it is not always that easy, especially in Europe. We reached a final last year but obviously the level we need to step up to in Champions League is really high and demanding which we all feel at the moment.
“It is expected when you are the manager or a player at Rangers to win all trophies, especially in Scotland because that is our priority. It is a competition in recent years we haven't won so we need to make sure we continue our desire and hunger for trophies.”
The boss will welcome Kemar Roofe back into his squad ahead of the game and said it is important the squad is fresh during such a hectic schedule.
He continued: “It is a demanding schedule as I said before and also with the World Cup the games come really quick and you don't have any breaks in between. It is about making sure you keep your squad fresh and making sure you have rotation where you can and that is what we are going to do tomorrow.
“We have watched a lot of Dundee’s games and we have analysed them as we normally analyse opponents so we know their strengths and which players we want to make sure are not in the game – we need to continue to work hard to analyse the opponents but also to develop our own play.
