Glasgow City Win The Points At The Training Centre

RANGERS suffered a 2-0 defeat to Glasgow City in the Scottish Women’s Premier League this afternoon.

A first-half double from Priscilla Chinchilla saw City take the win at Rangers Training Centre.

Malky Thomson named one change to his side this afternoon with goalkeeper Jenna Fife coming into the starting line-up with Megan Cunningham on the bench.

Rangers lined-up with Fife in goal and a back four of Nicola Docherty, Chantelle Swaby, Brianna Westrup and Rachel McLauchlan.

Kirsten Reilly, Chelsea Cornet and Sam Kerr were in midfield with Lizzie Arnot and Brogan Hay supporting striker Zoe Ness.

It was the visitors who took the early advantage opening the scoring after only two minutes - the ball broke for Priscilla Chinchilla inside the box and she lifted a shot into the back of the net.

With 12 minutes on the clock, Ode Fulutudilu drove through on goal but her shot drifted just wide of Jenna Fife’s goal.

It was the visitors again who threatened as Julia Molin delivered a dangerous ball across the face of goal but Ode Fulutudilu’s effort was just wide.

Rangers had their first sight of goal in the 18th minute as Rachel McLauchlan picked out the run of Sam Kerr. The Gers midfielder drove towards goal but Lee Alexander came out to clear the danger before she could get a shot away.

McLauchlan broke down the right for Gers shortly after as she delivered a dangerous ball into the box to pick out Lizzie Arnot. The forward made contact with the ball but Lee Alexander was quick to react to deny Malky Thomson’s side an equaliser.

Glasgow City doubled their advantage on the 36th minute as Ode Fulutudilu picked out Chinchilla who fired the ball towards goal, despite Jenna Fife getting a hand to the shot it wasn’t enough as the ball landed in the back of the net.

Rangers came out strong in the second-half as they searched for a goal as Lee Alexander was again alert to come out quickly to block the effort of Sam Kerr before Brogan Hay hit the post with a cross.

With 15 minutes of the game remaining Glasgow City substitute Mairead Fulton saw a shot saved by Jenna Fife.

Rangers had the ball in the net in the dying stages as Brianna Westrup touched the ball over the line from a free-kick but the assistant referee had his flag up for offside.
