Malky Thomson: We'll Bounce Back Together

MALKY Thomson says Rangers will stick together as they look to bounce back from this afternoon’s 2-0 defeat to Glasgow City.

The Gers boss was frustrated as an early goal gave City the advantage inside two minutes at Rangers Training Centre, before Pricilla Chinchilla doubled the tally before the break.

Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “It was always going to be a pressure game and not for one minute did I think mistakes would win it given the fact we have only lost four goals the whole season.

“It gave us a mountain to climb and in front of goal we didn't take our chances. However, the positives were that we stuck to our task, we went about it, we tried to probe in different ways to score goals.

“Unfortunately we never managed to get the result so we are really disappointed however the work in progress will still be on with the team.

“We are gutted especially given the preparation that went into it all week and how well the girls trained but that is football and that's the lessons we are getting.

“It is our first year as a professional and it is never going to be easy. We are up for the challenge, we are one club and we will stick together.”

Thomson now hopes for a positive reaction heading into a busy period of fixtures starting with Hearts on Wednesday evening.

He added: “The spirit and the resilience is there which is great and when we came into the job we knew we would have to create good strong relationships because it is not just going to be plain sailing.

“They are getting that lesson just now and they are reacting positively to it. We have just had a wee chat there, normally we don't and we wait until Monday or Tuesday and we let things temper down a wee bit but it is good we can approach it straight away and express our opinion.

“It is going to be busy and our medical staff and players’ mentality is going to come into it but we have got starters and finishers.

“It is really important that we have that phycological approach to being fit and being healthy and bring positivity come Monday morning and then we'll select a team and go play Hearts.”
