The Light Blues will host their city rivals in a top of the table clash as they look to maintain their positive form under their manager heading into the final months of the campaign.
Speaking to the media in this afternoon’s press conference ahead of the clash at Ibrox, the defender wants his side to use the home support to their advantage as they look to reach the Scottish Premiership summit once again.
He said: “We are in a good place. We have been on a good run of form over the last few months, obviously the manager has been here now for a longer period of time.
“The boys are settled with that and learning from him every day has been good and I think that the group has come together more as a whole.
“A lot of players have been used over this period and there is a lot of happy boys in there.
“We are looking forward to it, we are excited. Obviously I am not going to sit here and say it's not a big game.
“We have been on a good run and we just need to continue our form and go into this game full of confidence.
“We have to use that for our advantage. We have 50,000 home supporters there; we have to get them roaring and off their feet but that is up to us as a team.”
The Englishman has praised the mentality switch in the dressing room and the impact Philippe Clement has had on driving the standards in the squad since his appointment back in October.
He continued: “How would you reflect on the squad’s mentality shift over the last five or six months? It has been strong and I think you can see that from the performances and results on the pitch.
“The manager has really driven that home into what he wants from us. It is not just in games; it is every single day in training.
“That is the main thing and why we are getting our rewards on the pitch because now in training you have got two good 11's playing against each other and playing at a really high standard.
“We have had a good weeks training; you can tell when there is a big game on the horizon because training goes up another level.
“Everyone wants to stake their game to play, we have had a good weeks training and we just need to roll now into the weekend and take that with us.
The centre-back has encouraged the squad to be clinical on the day as he says the fixtures can often be won in moments with the significance of three points potentially pivotal in what remains of the season.
He added: “That is something in an Old Firm you have to be, you have to take your chances when they come. It is never usually a match full of chances, especially the tighter ones.
“When our opportunities come we need to be clinical and we need to limit them to as little as possible.
“We know that we usually score goals and since the manager has come in we have scored even more. It is our job as defenders to limit the other to as little chances as possible and let the forward players win us the game.”
