The Light Blues take on the League Two side in the fourth round, and the defender knows the importance of a win tomorrow to begin what he hopes can be another successful cup run.
Speaking to the media at this afternoon’s pre-match press conference, Goldson said: “It is another competition we want to go the whole way in, and we have got a massive game tomorrow. We are at a football club that demands success, and this is the first game in this cup. We have got to go there and do our job, but we respect them, and I am sure they will be fired up for it.
“They'll give it everything they have got but we have to go there and play our game and we have to win. At the start of the season we drew a lot of critics and rightly so, but we went on a good run and we have been able to get ourselves back in contention, we have won our first trophy and now we want to make this season successful.”
On the defensive competition at the squad, Goldson believes he has a good understanding with Leon Balogun, John Souttar and Ben Davies having featured alongside each of the three on a number of occasions.
He continued: “I don't think I have ever had a regular partner here in the years that I have been here. We have great options in there, so we know we need to work hard to keep our place.
“I'm close to all of them, they are all good people, and I am used to playing with all of them. I have played enough over the years so I have an understanding with all of them so whoever I am playing with I am more than happy to play with but there are a lot of games, and we need to all be pushed and all be ready to play games.
When asked about the end of the season and whether it could be the most exciting months so far for Goldson at Rangers, he continued: “I hope so, that is the plan every season, it is up to ourselves and how hard we are willing to work every day and how hard we are willing to push in every single competition.
“The last six months is always where the season gets exciting, and trophies are to be won so we have to go into this now with a team ready to go and every single person ready to push because we are all going to be needed.
“We know what it is like here, we are a bad result away from feeling the pressure, so we need to stay on our toes, and we need to work hard every day. It is a long season, and it just shows how at the start of the season we were on a bad run but how quickly football can turn around. Now we are talking about trying to win three trophies but that is the aim at this football club. We just need to work hard, and we need to go into games knowing what is at stake every single game and hopefully it is a successful season.”
