Goldson: The Perfect Way To Mark 300th Appearance

CONNOR GOLDSON reckons the 5-0 win over Hearts was the perfect way to mark his 300th appearance for Rangers.

The vice-captain helped Philippe Clement’s side to victory as they swept aside the in-form Jambos.

Goals from Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes, Fabio Silva and a double from Cyriel Dessers rounded off a fine afternoon for the Gers.

Stopper Goldson was delighted with the performance but insists no one in the squad is getting carried away.

Speaking to Rangers TV, he said: “It was a great afternoon.

“I knew in the week it was my 300th game. It was a big game, playing third in the league at home and we knew we had to put on a performance and keep going the way we are.

“We did that and I thought we were excellent.

“I am happy to reach 300. It is a lot of hard work, a lot of games in six years here - it’s not a bad ratio to reach 300 already.

“But I want to keep going. I am enjoying myself and I am excited about the future and long may that continue.

“I thought we dominated apart from the last 20 minutes when it turned into a bit of a basketball game when we could have enjoyed it a bit more.

“Apart from that we were dominant with and without the ball. When we press high, I think we caused them problems.

“We played a good side and at times in the first and second half we had to suffer as a team and Jack Butland made some big saves, but we limited them and we got another clean sheet and five goals, so hopefully everyone is happy.”

The win over Hearts made it ten straight victories for the Gers to keep up their perfect record in 2024.

Goldson praised the supporters for sticking by the team throughout the 90 minutes and thinks that patience is being rewarded.

He added: “We have belief, but we are feeding off confidence and hard work and that is breeding wins.

“When you are winning then things seem to go your way.

“The fans stayed with us for 90 minutes and they were more patient than a few weeks ago.

“That shows they can see we are a team and we are trying our best, in difficult moments, we are working hard together.

“Now we have to keep going, keep working hard every day and take it game-by-game to keep the confidence growing.”
