The striker netted her first goal of the campaign getting on the end of Kirsty Maclean’s through ball in what proved to be decisive moment as the Light Blues got back to winning ways.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game the forward was happy to score her first league goal in 2023/24 and feels it was important the team claimed the three points when they weren’t at their best.
She said: “We are obviously happy to get the three points and get the win. That is the most important thing going forward, but I think the performance overall wasn't great. We will definitely need to go back and reflect and work on a lot of things.
"We know how Partick play and we know that they want to make it really difficult and I think they did that today, so credit to them but I think for us we need to be better in possession and better on the ball, but ultimately three points.
“It was a good slipped through ball from Ini, she does that all the time in training, and I managed to get on the end of it and put into the corner. I am happy to get my first goal and contribute and we won so that is all that matters.
Howat believes the side showed character by claiming the result and as she highlighted the importance of the team keeping their first clean sheet of the season.
She continued: “We have done a lot of analysis on how we have conceded goals in games, we have put that right today and we have managed to keep a clean sheet. We have scored at the other end so we are happy and I am sure the defenders and Vic will be too.
“It shows character that we still got the three points when we weren't at our best, we can definitely take positives from that. It is a really long season and we just need to keep collecting the three points along the way and we did that today.”
The 26-year-old feels there were things to improve on for the team on the day and says they will look to better that for moving forward.
She added: “We needed to be better on the ball, we knew what Partick Thistle were going to do and we had to be braver and break them down better. To be honest I don't think that really happened in the second half and it is definitely something that we as players need to look at and we will reflect on that on Tuesday.”
