The forward was on the scoresheet twice for the Light Blues either side of the half-time interval, while there was a hat-trick from Katie Wilkinson, brace from Camille Lafaix, and a Rio Hardy spot-kick.
Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph, Howat commented: “It was brilliant.
“Overall, it was a good performance, getting eight goals, and a lot of good individual performances.
“We were good across all areas of the pitch.
“We’ve maybe not been on it in the last couple of weeks in the way that we would like, but this is a performance that we’re proud of and we’ll continue into the rest of the games.
“We know how important every game is from now until the end of the season.
“We saw last season that it was these sorts of games that we slipped up in; to get the first one out of the way and get a really good scoreline is excellent and we can take confidence going into the rest of the split games.”
Howat’s two goals were very different in variety, putting the exclamation point on a sweeping counter-attack in the first half before curling a sumptuous strike beyond the Motherwell goalkeeper in the second period.
The forward was pleased at her own individual contribution, but she says she is even more delighted that her strike partners, Wilkinson and Hardy, as well as Lafaix in the attacking midfield spot, are enjoying positive form in front of goal themselves.
She added: “The first one was a counter-attack from Motherwell’s corner, which was good because we spoke about it before the game.
“Jenna [Fife] kicked it up the pitch to get us up the pitch quickly and Lizzie [Arnot] has done really well to lay me off.
“I wasn’t sure whether to go side foot or laces, but I’m happy it hit the net.
“The second one in the second half; it got squared off early and I managed to get my shot away. I was happy with that one as well.
“It’s brilliant. We put in the work every single week and to get those rewards on a Sunday is excellent.
“It’s really good that there were different scorers, but it’s brilliant for us as forwards and attacking midfielders to get on the scoresheet.”
