The Gers under 18 side progressed to the semi-finals of the competition with a dominant performance as they controlled the contest throughout with two goals in each half.
Speaking to RangersTV Hutton has praised the team for their performance and says it was important to get back to winning ways after their league defeat at the weekend. He said: “It was brilliant from the lads; it was great to bounce back from the defeat in the league.
“It has not been going right for us over the past weeks but in the cup we have been doing very well and it was great to keep a clean sheet tonight.”
The right-back rounded off the scoring with a fantastic solo strike in the second half as well as providing a first half assist for Zak Lovelace to double the Gers lead as he described his individual contributions on the night.
He continued: “For the assist [Kristian] Webster has just played the ball over the top, and I have just made a ball of it, just chased the boy and managed to win it off him and lay off Zak for the goal.
“For my goal I received it in my path, and I have just saw a lot of space to run into, and I have looked up last second and I have saw the keeper move to his front post and I have just hit it the other side and I managed to score.”
The full back was happy with the sides clean sheet after the manager’s message at the half time break was to try keep the opposition out.
He said: “Us and the boys just went in at half time, everyone was buzzing of the first-half performance, I thought we performed well.
“The message was just to keep it going, just to try and bang more goals in and keep a solid defensive line and just don’t concede.
“The clean sheet is brilliant; we haven’t been keeping many clean sheets in the league so it is great to keep one in the cup and hopefully we can take that on to the next game.”
