The 21-year-old spoke to Steven Gerrard and Sporting Director Ross Wilson and was immediately sold on the Light Blues being the right club for him, saying his playing style fits perfectly. The Gers have an exclusive option to buy the attacker this summer.
Hagi is seen as a playmaker, who is comfortable playing anywhere across a front three and he is confident in his ability.
Speaking to RangersTV he said:
“They were telling me about the offensive style they play, having the ball, always trying to score as many goals as we can and when you don’t have the ball recover it as fast as possible.
“It is a mentality in which I grew since I was a kid so I think I am at a club where I always wanted to be and a club where I can develop my qualities so I think this decision is a really good one for me.
“I am a player that creates, so offensively that is my job and defensively I am a hard worker. I am a hard worker especially off the field and every day of the week i try to work as hard as possible.
“I can play all the positions up front and I have played all those positions up front in the past so I am good with them.
“I am happy the academy which grew me gave me the opportunity to be a versatile attacker.”
Away from the Gers style of play Hagi was drawn to Glasgow by the size of the club he is joining.
He believes the winning mentality, at the 54 time league champions, will see him grow – as will his relationship with the support.
He continued: “It is a great honour to play at such a huge club with a lot of history and I am looking forward to meeting everyone in the club and I can’t wait for the first training session.
“I can’t wait to meet the fans and I can’t wait for them to meet me and try to build this relationship as good as possible.
“It is a dream that every kid has when he was young to play for fans like this. I think it is the right adrenaline before every game and it gives you that push that you need for every game so I am looking forward to playing the home games.”
