The young Romanian international’s super strike on the end of a brilliant run early in the second half was the difference between the two sides, and he was delighted with how he and his teammates battled in difficult conditions to claim the three points.
He explained: "In a season, you can't win all the games three, four or 5-0 - you have to grind and you have to work for it.
"It was one of those nights where we just had to be patient and try to force the first goal, and then just keep a clean sheet as we have done the entire season.
"I think we have, until now, had a really good season defensively. On both ends, we won the penalty boxes and we won the game.
"In the first-half, we created some chances and we had a couple of chances where we could have scored.
"At half-time, the gaffer and also us, we knew that we needed some magic and we needed some players who had to make the difference.
"I am happy that my shot went in - I really trust in my shot, both left and right - it is one of my qualities so whenever I am on the pitch I try to exploit it."
Despite being one of the more advanced players on the pitch, the clean sheet thrilled Hagi just as much as anyone else on the park.
He continued: "For sure. Offensively, it starts from the goalkeeper, and defensively, it starts from the strikers.
"Whenever we score and whenever we keep a clean sheet I think it is down to teamwork. We are really proud of what we have done until now but it is just another game and we have plenty more in front of us.
"We have to prepare for the away game now."
