Scotland 1-3 England - Tuesday, September 12 – 150th Anniversary Match
John Souttar, Ryan Jack and Robby McCrorie were called into Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for this month’s international double-header.
Scotland got off to a winning start with an emphatic 3-0 away victory over Cyprus on Friday evening, with the trio involved in the matchday squad.
Jack was then a second half substitute in last night’s defeat to England at Hampden Stadium, with Harry Kane’s late strike ending any hopes of a Scotland revival after Harry Maguire’s own goal.
Rabbi Matondo - Wales
Wales 0-0 Korea Republic - Thursday, September 7 - Friendly
Latvia 0-2 Wales - Monday, September 11 - UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifier
Rabbi Matondo was added to Rob Page’s 25-man squad for Wales’ double-header as he received his first call-up for his country in over a year.
The winger was involved in both matchday squads, but didn’t feature as Wales firstly drew with Korea Republic in a friendly match before a big win away to Latvia kept their qualification hopes alive for next summer’s European Championships.
Borna Barisic - Croatia
Croatia 5-0 Latvia - Friday, September 8 - UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifier
Armenia 0-1 Croatia - Monday, September 11 - UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifier
Borna featured in both matches for Croatia over this international break as two victories see them sit on top of Group C.
The left-back was a 67th minute substitute in Friday evening’s convincing 5-0 win over Latvia as he replaced Borna Sosa midway through the second half.
Barisic started the second match for Croatia, playing the full 90 minutes with Andrej Kramaric’s goal the difference in the 1-0 victory over Armenia.
Jose Cifuentes - Ecuador
Argentina 1-0 Ecuador - Friday, September 8 - FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifier
Ecuador 2-1 Uruguay - Tuesday, September 12 - FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifier
It was a narrow defeat for Ecuador in their opening FIFA World Cup Qualifier as a second half goal from Lionel Messi secured the victory for the reigning World Champions. Jose started the match in midfield for his country, playing 68 minutes of the match.
The 24-year-old was then consigned to a place on the substitutes bench as La Tri returned to winning ways with victory over Uruguay last night.
Leon King - Scotland Under 21s
Spain Under-21s 1-0 Scotland Under-21s - Monday, September 11 - UEFA Euro Under-21 Qualifier
Leon played the full 90 minutes as Scotland Under-21s succumbed to a late defeat to Spain in Andalusia.
It was a bitter pill to swallow for Scot Gemmill’s side in their opening qualifying match, with the side now preparing to host Hungary and Malta at Fir Park next month.
