Philippe Clement's side will make the trip to Dens Park for the fourth time this season, with their previous two outings to Tayside having resulted in a late postponement.
Six league matches remain for the Light Blues this term, and the 31-year-old goalkeeper has urged the side to grasp the opportunity ahead of them.
Speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow evening's clash against Dundee, Butland commented: "There is a history, stories, quotes from previous managers, on what this club is all about.
"You don't get the numbers that we have on the wall without having to come from behind [in the league]. It's a club of immense history and success, and it's not always easy.
"Did we think we would be in this position when we were eight points behind? Not sure, but we believed and we pushed.
"It's almost like the start of a new season now; starting tomorrow night, a good result and three points, and then we push on and finish strong.
"People wrote us off at the start of the season, and again when the manager came in.
"They didn't give us much hope, but now everyone is saying it's a title race.
"That's a credit to what the boys have done, and we need to remember what we have done.
"It would be easy after the game at the weekend to think everything has gone out of the window, but it hasn't.
"It's a game we need to learn from and a performance that we can't allow to happen again."
The Light Blues ran out 5-0 winners when the two sides met in Dundee back in November.
Although that triumph feels a long time ago following successive postponements at Dens Park, it is evidence of the heights that Clement's side can reach away from home.
Butland says the side are well aware that the performance dropped below standards on Sunday in the Highlands and believes tomorrow evening is a fantastic opportunity to make amends.
He added: "There's been some issues around this fixture tomorrow night, but it will go ahead where it should go ahead.
"We need to win every game, and that's what we're aiming to do.
"We should have only been up there twice, but this will be the fourth time.
"We need to focus on what we can do, and that is to put in a proper Rangers performance and get a result tomorrow.
"For me, I have great belief in the group, and I'll always be positive and push the boys to a higher standard.
"It's a great opportunity for us, and we can use that disappointment [from the weekend] as an opportunity."
