The Light Blues lost to Club Brugge in midweek ahead of the Ibrox meeting with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
Keeper Butland insists the squad are behind Head Coach Russell Martin and says everyone has to stick together to get back to winning ways.
Speaking to the media, he said: “We debriefed the Brugge game on Thursday and looked at things we can do better individually and collectively.
“It was a good, honest conversation between everyone to look back at it and take learnings from it.
“In football if you down tools then nothing can work, if you stick together and fight then you give yourselves a chance.
“We are doing that as a group, the manager is taking heat, but on the pitch we need to do the jobs we are being asked to do better.
“As players we have to have accountability. The other night against Brugge, we didn't do things well enough and that’s on holding yourself accountable and having pride in your own job.
“You have to do the job properly when you cross the white line. We have spoken as a group and we know we need to do better.
“We are contracted to the club and you have to have pride in your work, even after difficult days.
“You have to stick your chest out and get on with it. Games come thick and fast here and in difficult moments, there is always the opportunity to put things right.
“We need to start doing that and there is no better opportunity to do that than Sunday.
“A lot of the guys are new to the demands here, but you need to embrace it with an open mind and a lot of confidence. You have to play without fear which some people are maybe doing at the moment.
“As an experienced player it is important to remind them it is an incredible place to play football and when it is good it is one of the best places on the planet.
“You have to say what it can be and incredible moments are around the corner which you can look forward to.
“You can say every game is a must-win, it is against our rivals and these are always must-win.
“We need to show character, this is an opportunity to put in a performance. Our fans have been through a lot and seen a lot of disappointment.
“This is a chance for people to come out of their shell and take the opportunity and this is a great one and it is a game where characters can step up and announce themselves and we have to do that.”
The England international has been on top form so far this season and he has been pleased with how things have been going this term.
He added: “I wanted to be the goalkeeper I know I can be and repay the faith the manager shown in me.
“I am 32 and I have a lot left in me. Sometimes I overthink things, you need to remind yourself that I put in the work, I try to improve and I looked at things I can do better.
“Right now I am in a good place and I feel very determined. I am focused on the job I am trying to do.
“The challenge of a new manager, and being asked to do different things, but I feel capable of doing that.
“I have always enjoyed the challenge this club brings and I am feeling fit and sharp.
“Sal Bibbo, the goalie coach, and I get on well, he is experienced after a successful time at Arsenal and I am learning a lot from him.
“I feel good and hopefully that continues.”
