It’s the final away match of the league phase for the Light Blues, and Tavernier hopes they can rise to the challenge at Old Trafford.
Speaking to the media at today’s press conference, he said: “In Europe we have handled ourselves really well and this competition has always been good for us.
“We rise to the challenge, tomorrow will be another one, but we are all looking forward to the game and what it will bring. Everyone who is asked to play a part will give 110 per cent for the club and the fans until the final whistle.”
It won’t be the first time Tavernier has played at Old Trafford, featuring for Newcastle back in 2012 in a 2-1 defeat. This time he hopes he can be on the winning side against the Premier League outfit.
He continued: “It would be special to get a result here as I am a Leeds fan, playing against Manchester United.
“I have played here once before in the Carling Cup and lost a long time ago, so I would like to win, and I am really excited for the game. I remember Wayne Rooney played central midfield and he ran the show.
“I was young, and it was a bit daunting, but I am experienced now, and you block out the noise and focus on the game and everyone in our team has that as they have been involved in big games.
“Playing here is a massive occasion, but it is every time I lead the team out, no matter if it is against Fraserburgh or Manchester United, it is always an honour. I am really looking forward to it.”
On what he expects from Manchester United, he added: “They are a team full of top-quality players and they might be conceding early, but we are sticking to our game plan to try to get in their faces and get after them as well as taking our chances.
“We want to get all three points, that’s the aim. It is important to try and keep the crowd quiet and we have to stick to our plan and hopefully that can happen.”
