The Gers ran out commanding 10-0 winners over Dundee United in their first SWPL fixture of 2024 as they put on a show at Broadwood Stadium.
Speaking to RangersTV after the match on what pleased the head coach most about the performance, she commented: “I think the ruthlessness, we kept going for the 90 minutes.
"It is sometimes difficult when you are six, seven or eight goals up in the last 15-20 minutes of the game in cold conditions as well to keep that emphasis going forward and not really take your foot off the gas and play kind of in third gear, but we didn't.
“We kept pushing, we knew that we wanted to be more ruthless in front of goal and keep creating more chances and I think the subs coming on the pitch really helped that as well because they want to impress.
“They want to perform and they want to score goals too, I think that really helped with us. Keep pushing forward and managing to get the 10 goals.
“You look at Jane scoring five goals today, that is huge for us. I spoke to her after the game and she said I don't think I have ever scored five goals in a game and I said well it is a nice time to do it.
“Especially coming back off a serious injury. Only a couple of games into it as well. It just shows the quality and how important she can be for us when she is on that pitch.”
The former Lioness has hailed the performance of her front two with both Ross and Sarah Ewens helping themselves to seven of the 10 goals between them.
She continued: “That is huge for them and their confidence. It is good for us as a team knowing that you have got players at the top of the pitch that are scoring goals for fun.
“They have half a chance or a chance and one of those is definitely going to be a goal. We just need to keep creating, keep giving them the ball and hopefully keep their confidence high and we know they are going to put it in the back of the net.”
Potter was also delighted with yet another clean sheet as focus now turns to their Sky Sports Cup semi-final Old Firm clash on Friday evening.
She added: “That was something that we were really pleased with straight away after the game. Kathy coming back into the fold really helps us with that, because she has had a long stint in the team and knows how we want to perform away from the ball and our defensive structure.
“I think she was excellent at that today, but I was really pleased that when we lost the ball our reactions to win it back and keep that high press on I think that was an important part for us today and why we scored so many goals.
“We know we couldn't take our eye off this one first. We knew we needed to use this game as an important pre-test for us come Friday. We all know it is a big game, it is a semi-final and we are all looking forward to it.”
