The Light Blues came out the blocks with a goal inside three minutes in the capital before doubling their lead going into the break. A quick response was to follow after conceding shortly after the interval before three further strikes in the closing quarter of the game set them on their way to victory.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game the head coach was pleased to see the side carry on from their positive results in pre-season to claim victory in her first league match in charge.
She said: “I was pleased overall, we knew that they would have their moments in the game, I said to the players afterwards when teams do have their moments that they can't let them punish us like they did. A little bit of a lapse in concentration but that is one moment in the game, overall I was really pleased to see everything that came out from pre-season into this game, it was good.”
Potter was happy with how fast her side started the match and believes on another day they could have added to the six goals that they scored.
She continued: “That was the last thing that I asked before we went out for the game, I said I think we need to start a little bit faster and stronger. Put teams on the back foot a little bit earlier and allow us to put in the pressure that we can deliver and to sustain that for moments that they can, I was really pleased with the start.
“We probably hit the bar and the post a couple of times as well, it is good for me to see that we are creating these chances, and on another day another three or four is going to hit the back of the net, for me the big part is creating them. The next part now is just starting to finish them and put them away.”
The 38-year-old praised the attitude of her team for their quick response after the hosts halved the deficit at the start of the second half, only for Jodi McLeary to put the Gers two goals ahead once again just minutes later.
She added: “I keep saying week in and week out their attitude is great, the character is great, I don't ever think for one minute that if we do concede a goal that our heads are going to drop, because they know they have got the right attitude and discipline to move forward. Even though we conceded a goal I never doubted for one minute that they weren't going to come back and create some chances.”
