On the back of the team’s Sky Sports Cup success for the third season running, the former Lioness will take her team to the iconic stadium as they take on Hearts in their final fixture before the international break.
Speaking to the media in this afternoon’s press conference ahead of the game, she said: “Standing on the touchline at Ibrox? It is so surreal; I think it is before the game and the tie happens is where you kind of take it all in.
“You are looking at things and you are like wow we are here standing in such an iconic stadium, but as soon as that whistle goes everything around it disappears.
“You are totally immersed in the game and I wouldn't have it any other way.
“We know it is always a super tough game against Hearts.
“We know that they do their work and their research on opponents and you can tell that they are very tactically astute in how they setup their teams and how they want to play and how they want to press.
“In possession and out of possession and that has been a main focus for us this week.
“We are expecting it to be a tough game, they must be high in confidence.
“They obviously drew with us and then go on and beat Celtic and then have had a weekend off again.
“I am sure they have done their work on us this week and we have certainly done our work on them too.”
The head coach has hailed the overall contributions from her squad with the goals being shared all over the pitch across the entirety of the campaign so far, as she now looks ahead to another opportunity for the players in her side to gain more experience from playing in big occasions.
She continued: “It has always been a strength of ours.
“Even last year we knew that we'd shared the goals out throughout the team really well.
“We have got three players in the top ranks for the goalscorers in the league up to now.
“There is a couple that aren't far behind but it is just their goal contributions as well.
“I think if you look at Rio and Wilko in particular their assists are really high compared to their goals as well.
“They are not just scoring goals they are assisting them; I said that about Wilko from day one.
“Even the games that she doesn't score herself she directly assists so she has an impact on our overall game play, but we have got special players in all areas.
“I asked my midfielders to chip in and score some more goals as well.
“We have got some high assists players in wide areas and we look for them to score more goals too.
“We are blessed with players that can stick the ball in the back of the net and I think they know with that competitive element that they have got to bring it and they have got to continue to do if they want to start on a Sunday.
“To give these youngsters and these players the experience of those moments and not just playing at Ibrox but playing in semi-finals, finals, playing at Hampden and playing at other grounds, it is huge for them.
“I think it is not something that you get to experience a lot in your career.
“The more that they can do that at a young age it is going to put them in a really good stead moving forward for when they are in the depths of their career and a lot more experienced.”
Having claimed trophy success Potter says it was important that they enjoyed getting hands of the first piece of silverware of the season, but insists their full attention is now back on league duties and getting three points in their SWPL campaign.
She added: “It was super important for us.
“We know there was a lot made around we have won it back-to-back and two years in a row and we know it is not easy to do that.
“We knew it would be even harder this year especially playing against somebody that is ahead of you in the league and on the run of form that were in.
“Super confident, playing really well, keeping a lot of clean sheets and not conceding many goals.
“We knew it was going to be a really tough game; I thought that the players handled that especially well.
“I thought the players handled that pressure particularly well and that showed in their performance.
“It has petered away now; we made sure we put that to bed pretty early.
“We did enjoy, we needed to make sure that as ever we looked back at the game and we analysed certain things and what we did really well and what we needed to do slightly better.
“We did that earlier in the week and soon as we stepped back out onto that training pitch it was full focus on Hearts.
“We know we can't take anything for granted you can see how much the results are throwing up at different ends and we don't want to slip up so we need to make sure we are fully focused on this weekend's game.”
