Rangers came out on top in a thrilling five-goal contest at Excelsior Stadium as they beat their rivals Celtic 3-2 in dramatic fashion.
Speaking to RangersTV after the match with the Gers sealing their place in March’s final the head coach has spoken of her pride of the team and feels they were deserved winners on the night.
She said: “These are the big games these are the ones that everyone tells you have to win and we done that and we keep doing that.
“That is what we want to keep doing, we want to win these games and create some mentality monsters in that changing room and that is what we have definitely got at the moment.
“You can see it even if we concede a goal or a chance it doesn't matter, we stand up we're accounted for and we go again. Just that relentlessness of the team that they just keep going and we just keep creating and it is all credit to them, I am really proud of them all today.
“It is hard straight after a game to try and decide for it immediately. You don't know if you are working off emotion or not but I think we absolutely dominated for the 90 minutes.
“I was really disappointed that we weren't one or two up at half time because I think we were pinned in their half for the whole of the first half.
“If there is anything I could say negative about it is that we weren't up earlier in the game. We like to give them a 1-0 lead to come back from, we did that last time.
“ I think after the game we have got to be extremely proud of the character that we have shown to go 1-0 down and go 2-1 up and then for them to have another penalty to get back in the game.
“We don't think it's a penalty but there is nothing we can do about it; we can just get on with the game.
“I was always confident; you are looking towards extra time but it shows the character of the girls to keep going and keep going to the very end and it was just exactly what we deserved. We more than deserved that win and we more and deserve to be in the final.”
Potter has praised the character and persistence of the team as they went through a rollercoaster of emotions on the evening before Rio Hardy sealed the holders place in the final with the last kick of the night as they now look forward to the occasion at Tynecastle stadium in two months time.
She added: “We always say week in week out we create chances. We always know that it only takes a moment. We have got some special players on the pitch that can create a moment from nothing and you see that. The fitness levels of the girls are just getting better and better, we work extremely hard day in day out.
“As I keep saying this was the girls cup to keep, and they have got one hand on it at the moment so we have got to be confident going into the rest of the season and into the final that is something we want to do is retain that trophy.
“I got asked if I was nervous when Rio stood over the ball and I am like absolutely not. She loves those moments, we see her do it all the time, she is more than confident than anybody and I am just as confident for her.
“You have got to be brave to step up in those moments and have a go at that. A penalty can be missed at any opportunity but she is brave enough to step up and stick it in the back of the net for us.
“I can't wait, it will be my first cup final as a manager. As I said to the players this is there's to keep and mine to get my hands on for the first time hopefully.”
