The Gers were pegged back on two occasions in the game before Chelsea Cornet’s fine effort from the substitutes bench saw the visitors run victorious in the second clash between the teams this season.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory at New Douglas Park, she said: “I think the game did have everything. We were unlucky to come in 1-1 at half time, because I thought we were dominant and we deserved the lead.
“We know they are dangerous on set pieces, to leave Hayes free on a second phase is a little bit disappointing but the character that we showed after that I felt like we were always going to win that game, we always wanted to win that game.
“You see from the last game when we were 2-0 up and it comes back to 2-1, the difference in the mentality and character of the players to be able to just step forward and go its ok we have got confidence in what we are going to do here and we are going to continue to do what we are doing well.
“That was what got us back into that game and what got us in front and what kept us in front.
“It is hard in these games because they have got a quality keeper. We have spoken about that she is one of the best in the league.
“She does have her weaknesses so it is taking those chances at that moment in time.
“It was a tough one today you say that and we score three goals. It is an excellent game for the neutral I think it had everything.
“Some anxiety levels were a little bit high on the bench at the end of the game but we were always confident that the subs that were coming on at the end can manage the game for us and they can start to see a game out.
“I think that Jane and Kirsty coming on gave us exactly what we needed at that moment in time.
“Mia gave us a little bit of pace in behind and that really helped.
“The subs were outstanding but the whole squad was on top form today.”
The former Lioness has heaped praise on match winner Chelsea Cornet after her volley made the difference on the day, and she says there is more to come from the midfielder.
She continued: “It is outstanding, we know she can do that.
“She has not just got one side of the game when she is out of possession side which we know that she is renowned for.
“Chelsea has got that in possession part that when she gets in on goal there is few that can be better with some power and accuracy at the same moment.
“I have seen her do that time and time again in training and I was made up for her today because I said pre-match I have got no doubt in needing to use her at some point.
“I think she showed that today and she will only get better as this season goes on and we will definitely see more of that from Chelsea.”
Potter was delighted her side were able to prove themselves on a big occasion and says they ran out deserved winners on the day.
She added: “That is what we were aiming for pre-match. We said this is probably the real first kind of moment where they were under a little bit of pressure and wanting to prove that we are the better.
“I said to them this is the first chance that we have got to prove that today.
“We can't keep saying that we are playing the better football, in good form, we needed to make sure that we showed it today and I think we showed that we were definitely by far the better team in my opinion.
“Our players feel that way and our fans will definitely feel that way, we just deserved to get the three points today.”
