The Light Blues had to respond to a second half setback before claiming all three points in a 3-1 win at Petershill.
Speaking to RangersTV after their away league victory in Glasgow, the head coach says it was important at this stage of the season the team came out on top and responded to their Wednesday night result.
She commented: “I think we needed to remain patient.
“We needed to show that a little bit better than what we showed on Wednesday, not get too caught up in the game getting away from us.
“That was the messages that we said, we just needed to make sure we stayed with it.
“We knew opportunities would come; chances would come.
“It was about being patient to wait for that and I think we did that much better than what we did on Wednesday night.
“At this stage of the season, is it just about getting over the line? 100 per cent, it sometimes doesn't have to be pretty, it can be ugly and you win.
“We take that at the moment, we needed a result after Wednesday night.
“There was no hiding from that fact and we needed to come here and get three points and that is exactly what we have done.”
The former Lioness highlighted the response of the squad after the Gers suffered a setback in conceding the 68th minute equaliser before ultimately returning to winning ways.
She added: “It is always tough, because we have given them a goal.
“It is not like they earned a goal as such and it just gives them that little bit of a lift to get back into a game.
“They get back into a 1-1 game and it looks very different because I thought after we had scored the first it was going to be flood gates open a little bit, a little bit more settled to go and get a few more.
“Which we did in the end anyway, but it can just make it a little bit nervier up until that point.
“It is difficult when you give teams a sniff and give them an opening because they have got a little bit more to fight for and you can see that with this team when you are playing against Thistle.
“They have got a lot of heart and desire and they want to fight for every single ball.
“It is tough when you give them an in back into the game but I thought we responded excellently to remain calm, keep our composure and find another two goals to win the game.
Substitute pairing Sarah Ewens and Rachel Rowe produced the late goals but Potter credited the impact of all those in the squad who featured in the game made.
She said: “We say it week in week out don't we, the squad is there for a reason.
“We had no doubt that they were going to come on and have a real impact.
“I thought Nic and Rachel's impact when they came on was extremely important for us as well.
You can see the quality that they bring when they step onto the pitch, when we needed it the most.
“I think every single sub we saw stepped on the pitch and had an impact and we definitely needed them.”
