The Light Blues ran out 2-0 winners over Hearts thanks to a Rachel McLauchlan wonder strike before Lizzie Arnot sealed the deal with a late goal in the rain at the national stadium.
Speaking to RangersTV after winning a second piece of silverware in her first season in charge, the head coach praised her players for their ‘big achievement’ to round off the campaign.
She said: “It has been a long tough season, but that is just what the players deserve.
“They have worked tirelessly and they have been excellent across all cup competitions and to come away cup double winners is a huge achievement for us, the players and the club.
“To bring a new trophy back which we have never won before is a big achievement. I am immensely proud of the players and I think they fully deserved it.
“It is huge for us; we want to keep creating memories and being the first to do things.
“I think it is important for us that we got our hands on this trophy at the first possible chance, because it shows the growth and where we are going and what we want to achieve.
“We know we can do more, we know we can do better but I think coming away as double winners across the cup competitions is a huge achievement and we can just push on from here and look forward to next season.”
The former Lioness reflected on the showing from her Gers side in the final match of the season, saying the main thing was getting over the line on the day.
She continued: “I think that is the story of the season is it not? We control, we dominate and we create chance after chance.
“I know it is only 2-0, it ends up being a little bit scrappy, we created many more chances that probably should have been four or five but that is the story of our season.
“The big thing for us today it wasn't about points on the board it was about winning this game.
“We wanted to produce a performance and it was there, it was there for the majority, but the big thing for us today was to come off winners and I think we looked controlled, we looked comfortable.
“I would have liked us to score a few more goals as ever but it weren't to be. To lift the trophy and come away winners was the biggest thing for us today.”
Potter praised the character of her team from responding to narrowly missing out on the title last weekend, as she hopes there are more positive times to come looking into the new campaign.
She added: “I think we needed it. It is always a good thing that you can have another game after such disappointment of last week.
“It was so important for us to be able to come out and perform and have the opportunity to get another trophy.
“It probably looks so different if you come away losing this today, it looks like it is a disappointing season, when actually a cup double and losing a treble on goal difference is massive.
“It is huge, we are this close to it being a perfect season, but that is football for you.
“It is cruel, we couldn't manage to do it this year but I said to the players at the end that they put themselves in a real position.
“We have changed a lot this year, we have asked them to do plenty of different things. Enhance their game, enhance their fitness levels and push themselves on to another level.
“We have got Champions League football this year, which again enhances what we have done, we have got a real strong foundation to build on to next year and we look for a really exciting summer and to move on for hopefully another good season next year.”
