The 26-year-old opened the scoring at Hampden Park with a wondrous strike from 35 yards midway through the first half.
Lizzie Arnot then doubled the Gers’ advantage with four minutes remaining, sweeping home from Rachel Rowe’s pull-back to put the seal on a first ever Scottish Women’s Cup success for the club.
Speaking to RangersTV as the celebrations started around her, the Scotland international commented: “To score the opening goal and help the team in a cup final at Hampden is special.
“I’m very happy to get on the scoresheet.
“It’s definitely a special goal. There was space at the edge of the penalty area and we’ve talked about it in recent weeks about just taking a hit.
“I thought ‘why not?’ and fortunately it’s went off my boot and in.”
The victory sealed a cup double for Jo Potter’s side this term after success in the Sky Sports Cup in March, with UEFA Champions League qualification also secured this summer.
McLauchlan says she’s fortunate to be involved in such a tight-knit dressing room unit and credits the side’s togetherness for helping deliver a double helping of silverware this campaign.
She added: “We’re all so happy; we came out and wanted to end the season on a high. To come away with the League Cup and Scottish Cup, we’re all happy and want to push on for more next season.
“We deserved it. We’ve had a good season, although it’s perhaps not went exactly the way that we wanted.
“It was important to come out, enjoy the game, and get the cup, which is exactly what we’ve done.
“We’re a very close bunch. I feel very lucky to be involved in the group that we have.
“It’s special and I don’t think many teams are like this, so it’ll be nice to come together after the season that we’ve had and look back on it.”
