The Light Blues have been put through their paces in southern Spain this week, with the new manager keen to whip her players into shape ahead of the SWPL opener at the home of Spartans next weekend.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV ahead of the clash, Potter commented: “It’s been good. It’s been tough for the players. It’s difficult to train in the heat, doing double sessions is hard, but they know that we’re here to work and to get a lot done on the pitch. It’s a new team, system, and way of playing, so this week has been hugely vital for our way of playing and moving forward.
“Even the players who are still here, to get out to a different environment and somewhere new to go, where they can spend some quality time together. It’s not as if they’re training and just heading home; they are in each other’s pockets for a while. It’s really good to spend time with people and get to know them on a human level.
“Any time that you do get to spend on the pitch is vital, so it’s about finding the balance between not doing too much and not doing enough. It’s also about realising that we need to spend more time on things, and prioritising certain moments, and I feel like we have done that this week.
“Being able to spend time on the pitch and put things into practice, get back into the classroom, really helps. Having the time to do that and spend time together is only going to help us.”
The baking hot conditions at Pinatar, coupled by the quality of a Levante side who finished third in the Spanish top-flight last season, is sure to test the physical and mental capacity of Potter’s charges.
However, the Gers boss is confident that her side are conditioned properly to match the quality of their Spanish opposition.
She added: “We’ve shown the players their profile, and we appreciate that they’re a good team. If you know the Spanish league and players, you’ll know that they like to play. They like to possess the ball, so it’s going to be a tough game.
“They’re going to put us through our paces, but we’re still concentrating on ourselves and what we do really well. We know that they’ll have threats, and they can score goals, but so can we. We need to make sure that we’re concentrating on ourselves first and foremost, and then dealing with their threats and exploiting their weaknesses.
“The team’s energy and application are never something that I’ve had to question with them. I know their application and attitude is always spot on. I know I don’t have to get them up to that level because they’re already up there with work rate and effort, so anything on top of that is about trying to instil things in them that I need from them, and they need from each other. It’s an easy win from day one.”
