Off the back of Scottish Cup progression at the weekend the Rangers were in league action and got over the line thanks to Katie Wilkinson’s first half header.
Reflecting on the victory at K-Park, the head coach said: “It wasn't great, we started off really well but we seemed to kind of lose control of the game and the rhythm throughout.
“The main thing for us was the clean sheet, I think it was big for us.
“It has been a while since we kept one so the clean sheet was big and three points were big.
“We knew that we needed to get a job done here tonight, it was never going to be easy.
“I said that pre-match and the game did become a little bit stretched and scrappy.
“We need to work on being able to control a game in the latter stages, but it was important for us to get three points tonight and a clean sheet.
Potter highlighted the Gers being unable to build on their early dominance with further goals but says in the midst of having several key players missing, it was important to just get out with a win.
She continued: “We hit the bar twice, the game looks get very different if you go two and three goals ahead.
“We did mention that at half time we said that at 1-0 it can be a little bit sketchy.
“We just needed another goal to take that sting out the game, because they were always in it at that scoreline. You could see them pushing and they are a decent team, they have got a lot of energy.
“They can get after it and they can mix it a little bit.
“They were always going to give them a little bit of light in a game like that so we needed to make sure we put the game to bed in the first half, even though we didn't we managed to keep the lead and take three points which was the main thing.
“In a three-game week it is so important.
“We managed to utilise our squad as I said we have got five or six sat on the sidelines not even in the squad and I think that just shows the healthiness of our squad as well.
“Being able to do that, I think if you do that to most other teams in the league it is really deter-mental, especially starting players.
“You take starting players out the lineup like that it can really be hurtful to you and how you play and results.
“It was really important for us to utilise our squad tonight, have people step up to the plate, put in some performances and a big night for three points for us.”
The Light Blues now turn their focus to a top of the table clash against Glasgow City at the weekend and Potter says the team will go and work on what they need to improve on from this evening to be ready for their next test.
She added: “It is going to be another tough one.
“The players manage to get themselves up for those games regardless because they are rivals, so it is always going to be a close game.
“We need to make sure we are doing what we do well.
“We need to improve on certain elements from tonight, which is always good to be able to go and work on.
“We are not scared of getting on the pitch and putting things right when we have not been quite right and the girls know that we weren't quite at it tonight, but we still need to take positives.
“Two wins out of the three right now for this week is really important for us and it could be a big game on Sunday, so we have put ourselves in a really good position at the moment.
“We just need to make sure we are taking that into Sunday and tackling it head on and making sure we are going with all the impetus to win three points.”
