The Light Blues will return to the national stadium to take on Glasgow City in the final after a 5-0 triumph in the Scottish Cup semis at Hampden as they took a step closer tor retaining the trophy they won for the first time in their history last season.
Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the 90 minutes this afternoon, she commented: “It is a little bit of a strange feeling because we have won the game 5-0 quite comfortably but I wasn't too impressed with the performance.
“We make changes and I said to the players afterwards it is not really an excuse for it.
“We have got players to come in and do a job and show their qualities.
“Look at Jane Ross today she has come in and scored three and got two assists, she has been pivotal in what we have done today.
“But we need to make sure that we are producing a little bit better performances of what we can be proud of.
“Some people might look and go you have won 5-0 what is that about but we hold ourselves to account and that could have been better in certain areas that we need to be better for to achieve what we want to achieve this season and come Wednesday which is a quick turnaround.
“It was slow play; the pitch really didn't help that the first half.
“You could see with the players I think it was stuck under their feet and really didn't help us to be able to play our way.
“It is not excuse we need to find a different way to be better and come up with solutions.
“Our play was just a little bit too slow today, we weren't quite at it and one step ahead.
“I think we were quite reactive instead of being proactive and it is something that we have been working on with the players and they will improve on come Wednesday.”
The former Lioness was full of praise of match winner Jane Ross, who contributed to all five goals by providing three goals and two assists on the day.
She continued: “Ross's attitude? Never in doubt, she has done that for years and years.
“She only needs a sniff; I think it’s a knack.
“Everybody looks and goes she is in the right place at the right time but it is not she puts herself in those positions time and time again.
“She knows where the ball is going to land, she can read the lie of the ball she probably knows where the cross is going to come into.
“The keeper makes a save she probably knows where it is going to land and that is years and years of practice.
“She was deserved player of the match today; I thought she really dug us out of a whole at some points and put us in the lead and got us way ahead when we maybe weren't deserved so.
There were two special moments on the day for two of Potter’s youngsters, with Jodi McLeary making her 100th appearance for the club and 15-year-old May Cruft in from the off, as the head coach praised the pair with attentions now turning to their midweek clash against Glasgow City at Ibrox.
She added: “That was a real proud moment for me today, May Cruft being able to play at a stadium like this at 15 years of age it doesn't happen very often.
“Being able to expose players like that at such a young age in an arena and occasion like this.
“Those memories will live with her forever and she'll learn so much from them.
“Jodi has got another 1000 to come so 100 up and she'll get so many more that girl.
“It is a quick turnaround; every game is thick and fast now.
“We are super proud to be in a final, we know that was an objective before the game and we have managed to achieve that.
“It is really important that we are putting ourselves in these positions to be successful this year.
“We have got to make sure that we do that again on Wednesday."
