Joe Aribo Joins Southampton

RANGERS can today confirm the transfer of Joe Aribo to Southampton for a significant, undisclosed fee.

Aribo has served Rangers with distinction in the last three seasons, and leaves with the best wishes of everyone at Ibrox.

Joining from Charlton for a compensation fee in 2019, Aribo went onto make 149 appearances for the club and scored 26 goals.

He will be remembered for a memorable strike against Braga in the Europa League in his first season when Gers produced an incredible comeback, while he was one of a number crucial performers in 2020/21 as the Light Blues sealed title number 55.

Last season, Aribo played a significant part in Rangers reaching the Europa League final and securing the Scottish Cup, and he became only the fourth player to score for the club in a European final with the opener in Seville.

His performances for Gers have seen him become a regular for the Nigerian national team, and while traditionally a midfielder, his versatility and selflessness also saw him deployed at left-back and as a number nine on occasion.

We wish Joe all the best for the future.
