It was a big result for Barry Ferguson’s men, who ended a run of eight away derby matches without a victory thanks to a late strike from Hamza Igamane.
The defender says while the squad enjoyed yesterday’s result, they must continue to put in the work moving forward.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “It is important we remember it is just three points, but we can enjoy it, it is a big moment for us. We have put a lot into the last week, but it is important we keep our feet on the ground and find that consistency.
"It is something we have struggled with this year, and it is something we are going to look for going forward but it was a big performance, and we showed a lot of character.
“If we don’t find that consistency, then today doesn’t mean anything so it is important we back it up, and I'm sure the boys will enjoy the break a few people will be going away on international duty and when we come back, we are hungry and we keep going.”
On the 90 minutes, Souttar continued: “There were a lot of tired bodies, but I thought the boys were brilliant and to get the fans back in the stadium was a big bonus for us. You felt it when you came out for the warm-up, it was brilliant, so it added to the atmosphere and to get the three points was great.
“On the ball we have been a lot better, but sometimes in these occasions it doesn’t matter about the ball. It is about the three points and showing character and to be fair we did that.
“We won our second balls, and we were hard to break down. On the two goals we lost we will probably look back and think we could’ve done better but it is one of these things.
"When you come here, and get the three points there are going to be times when they have the ball and times when they are going to dominate but you have to stand up and be a man and I think we did that.”
