KATIE WILKINSON is loving life as a Rangers player and vows to keep improving, having agreed a new two-year deal.
The striker has enjoyed a remarkable campaign in front of goal in Scotland, finding the back of the net on 40 occasions to date as her numbers continue to impress.
Speaking to RangersTV after agreeing terms to commit her future to the club, she commented: “The environment that is created here makes it easy to settle, I felt that really quickly.
“We have got such a good group of people in and around the women's team.
“Feeling settled and at home came quite quickly for me, and I guess that on the pitch became a positive thing.
“It is super important to feel happy with the team that you are at and where you are.
“How much have I enjoyed this season personally? Massively, and I think that is something for me as a player, I always want to improve.
“The first season that I was there, it was maybe something that against the top four or five sides, I probably wasn't contributing as much as I would have liked.
“That was definitely something that I thought about a lot in the off-season last year and something that I wanted to improve, and I think that is definitely something that I have added for this season against the bigger teams.
“Hopefully it can continue into next season.”
The English forward paid tribute to her Head Coach in her reasoning for feeling content at the club, as she expressed her excitement about what is to come in the future.
She continued: “Leanne has understood me a lot, and I feel that it is not all the time that I am probably understood that much.
“I think my face says different to sometimes what my words or actions say.
“It has allowed me to kind of do what I do on the pitch, score goals, and help the team, and I am super grateful for her.
“Conversations? They were really good; we both wanted the same things.
“I want to be at this football club; I am grateful again to be given another opportunity to go and do what I love, and at an amazing team with a really good group of people.
“I am excited to see what the next two years can bring.”
Wilkinson has taken on great responsibility using her experience this campaign with high-profile departures in the frontline, but was full of praise for the young players who have stepped up for the side this campaign.
She added: “The senior players in the group, we'll all feel that this year, and I think every single one of them has stepped up to the plate and really led the team.
“We have got such a young team, but the senior players in the group have really tried to lead every day in training, in games and try to get the team on the right path.
“It is massive for their growth and where they can help us going forward as well, all around the group has been really good this season.”
