The goalkeeper has been an understudy to the 32-year-old, who has put in consistent performances throughout so far during 25/26.
Speaking to media in this morning’s press conference as the Gers prepare to get their Scottish Cup campaign underway tomorrow evening, he said the two bring the best out of each other by pushing each other in training: “Honestly if somebody is not good I would just say they are not good, if somebody is good I would just say they are good, I think Jack has been amazing for us this year.
“He has been brilliant; he has won us loads of points. It gives me a sense of comfort, a sense of satisfaction that he is playing that well because it kind of justifies me that I am maybe pushing him the best as I possibly can, that his performance levels are that strong.
“He has been really good; I am his biggest supporter. We talk all the time, whether it be things we can improve on or things we could have done better.
“He is having a fantastic year, and ultimately, he is having a big help in the team as well.
“There are loads of technical aspects that you can talk about.
“I am not going to bore you with the sort of goalkeeping chat that we have. There are loads of technical aspects. Because of his size and athleticism, his ceiling is so high.
“His capabilities are enormous, hence why he can make saves that hardly any other goalie can make, even all over football, just purely cause his ability and size.
“We talk about technique; we talk about pictures that we see when we are on the ball. We talk about the way the manager wants us to play, becoming the extra player at the back.
“The distances between the backline and where we go when the ball is positioned on the pitch, there is loads of stuff we talk about.
“We are just open with each other, like he will ask me do you think you could have done better there or in training? He will maybe say to me if you done this better, you could have done that better.
“We just have a really good relationship and are just honest with each other, and I think that brings the best out of us to be honest.”
Kelly, who is hopeful of an opportunity to face off against the League Two outfit in Govan, as he gave an insight into the type of side Rangers will be facing on Friday evening.
He continued: “That will be great, obviously, if the manager selects me, I will be delighted to play again.
“Obviously, I know how difficult it is to get one game for Rangers. Coming through the academy is a real privilege if you get one game.
“It is a game that we will be taken absolutely 100 per cent seriously. We know Annan are capable of having some good results. Obviously, they beat East Kilbride around the Christmas period as well, who are really good in their league.
“Got some good players, they just recalled Tommy Goss, who is one of their main strikers who left them for East Fife at the start of the year.
“My wee brother is in League Two of Scottish football, so I watch a lot of Scottish football, and I am aware of the situation.
“Willie Gibson is their manager, who I have played against a number of times when I was on loan at other clubs.
“It is a game that we are taking absolutely seriously, desperate to win, and we got the major shock and upset last year, so we have got the biggest reminder possible that we can't slip up.”
The Light Blues have had a real upturn in form since the arrival of their head coach, Danny Röhl, since his arrival in October, as the 29-year-old highlights the real changes he has made and why he is positive about what potentially lies ahead for the team.
He added: “The way you see him is how we see him. He is very calm; there is not really any major dramas.
“Even for example at half time at Parkhead, it seems a bit of a drama because Celtic are really on top of the game.
“It is just like calm down; we are going to get into this shape. When the ball is here, we are going to move here and when you need to play well.
“Tactically, he has sorted a lot of things out, which then helps the mood because we are winning games because tactically we are very good.
“We have sorted a lot out, which helps the mood amongst the group of boys, and when we are winning games, it breeds confidence and people become freer.
“They are able to play without any element of stress or worry.
“Boys have stepped up; boys are playing really well week in week out. Since the manager came in, we are really in a strong position in comparison to other teams in the league.
“I think what excites me probably the most is the fact that we are becoming consistent and you can recognise what we are going to be and who we are week to week now.
“There is not so much randomness, there are not so many drastic changes in our performance and our style from week to week.
“The more we are doing the same thing over and over again, the better we are going to become at it, and the better we are getting every week.
“That is what excites me, that we are something and we are progressing at it. Ultimately, that is delivering us results.”
