Goals from Lizzie Arnot, Zoe Ness and an own goal had Gers three ahead at the break before Chelsea Cornet and Bala Devi added to that in the second-half.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time Murphy said: “I am delighted, I thought the players were fantastic today, from start to finish they were excellent.
“The way they kept the ball, they showed patience in how they entered the final third. To go 3-0 up at half-time was fantastic and credit to the players because in the second-half they never let that drop.
“When we got four goals up it was about managing the game and I thought the players did that and Bala topped it off getting her goal at the end which was fantastic.
“Spartans are a great team, they are fourth in the league for a reason so to come here and win 5-0 really typifies how good the players performed today.”
Murphy says he was impressed with the confidence Rangers showed to go and take control of this afternoon’s game.
He added: “There was a good confidence about the team today without being arrogant. I felt we were more dominant on the ball, we moved the ball quickly and I think for me that is the pleasing thing that we take the game to teams.
“A hard game like today, we came here with confidence and we made sure we put our game plan to them and I thought we did that really well and that's why we got a result today.
“I thought there were some great team goals again in terms of where the goals came from and how they were created and I think for us again the goals are getting shared about the team which has been a common theme this season and something that is really important.”
Murphy was delighted to see Hannah Cunningham come off the bench to make her first appearance in two years after an ACL injury, he added: “It is years of hard work for Hannah and all of the medical staff that have worked with her to this point.
“She had a horrendous injury to the point where people were debating whether she would actually come back from. She has been training really hard with the squad and she deserved her opportunity today so for me that just tops off a fantastic Sunday.”
