MIDFIELDER Kieran Dowell was delighted to be back involved at Ibrox tonight as he made his first start under manager Philippe Clement.
It was a solid performance in the middle of the pitch from the 26-year-old, in what was his first 90 minutes since August, as he helped Rangers to a 2-0 victory over St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, Dowell said: “I was made up to start the game and I really enjoyed it being back at Ibrox.
“I have just had to be patient, we have obviously had some great results but I spoke with the Gaffer and he said just keep being patient and you'll get the reward like I did tonight.
“We have got a great squad, and it is about the team at the end of the day, as long as we are winning that is all that matters so another three points tonight was brilliant.”
Cyriel Dessers opened the scoring in the first-half, before a James Tavernier penalty late in the game sealed the points against 10-man St Johnstone.
Reflecting on the game, Dowell added: “It was a good game, I think we started really well but obviously the sending off changed the game a little bit, but we got our goal and then it was a bit sloppy before half-time.
“It was just about doing the right things and getting back to basics in the second half, being patient but not being too safe and the second goal really killed the game.
“When teams go down to 10 men the only option is to really sit off and go on the counter-attack, but that is why we had to not make any sloppy mistakes and look after the ball but still try and get into their half. It is tough but it was an enjoyable game as well.
“We have had a great few weeks with some great results and this was just as important as the others tonight so it was great to get the three points.”
