King: It Was A Commanding Performance

LEON KING has described his early experience working under manager Michael Beale as ‘amazing’ as he praised a ‘commanding’ performance from Rangers in this afternoon’s 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen at Ibrox.

A first half double from Malik Tillman, coupled with a late Scott Arfield strike, capped off a positive afternoon’s work for the Light Blues as they gear up for the return of Scottish Premiership action against Hibernian in midweek.

Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, the 18-year-old was delighted at his side’s display: “I thought it was great to give the whole squad a run out back in front of the fans at Ibrox again, and it was a commanding victory as well.

“It’s been coming. We’ve been training with an intensity since the new manager has come in. It’s been amazing and I’m glad to be part of it. We want to keep clean sheets in every game that we play in and this is just the start.”

King was one of five Academy graduates who featured on the day, and the young defender says he’s relishing the return to league action on Thursday evening.

He continued: “It’s amazing and the boys deserve it. They’ve been doing unbelievable in the Lowland League so it’s congratulations to Robbie [Fraser] for making his debut.

“I’m buzzing [to return to league action]. It’s been a while and obviously the last league game that I played, I took a knock so I don’t remember much about it. It will be good to get back out there and play league games in front of the fans again.”
