The Gers started slowly in both halves before the goals started to flow as seven different goalscorers set them on their way to another victory.
Speaking to RangersTV after the match, the striker was happy to contribute to two of the nine but admits the side weren’t at the best on the night.
She commented: “I think it wasn’t one of our best performances and we are a bit disappointed, even though we scored nine goals which is strange to say.
“We hold ourselves to really high standards and tonight wasn’t up there and we know that.
“Queen’s Park came out and were physical, like we knew they would be. They had a disappointing result against Hearts and they wouldn’t want that to happen again.
“For us, we didn’t move the ball quick enough, our touch was a bit off and our overall reactions when we lost the ball, we didn’t react quickly enough.
“We spoke about it at half-time and in the second half it was still sloppy at times.
“It was 9-0 but we hold ourselves to high standards and tonight wasn’t good enough for us.”
Howat got off the mark for the season after heading home the opening goal and says it is in their approach throughout this campaign to go in search for as many goals as possible.
She continued: “I am really happy, that is what I want to be doing, helping the team, scoring goals and getting assists.
“I am happy to be off the mark but I didn’t think the ref was going to give me the first one, but it is mine.”
“We all know what happened last season, losing the league on goal difference and we don’t want that to happen again.
“We have spoken about it and even though we didn’t play well, we have nine goals and in these games we have to be ruthless and we did that.”
The Gers will now ready themselves to head up to Montrose to round off their third game in seven days and the forward says they are ready for the demands of lots of matches at the start of the new campaign.
She added: “A three-game week is tough early in the season. We had a good pre-season and we are prepared for this.
“We know they will be physical, hard to break down and they will play when they can.
“We are looking forward to it and we will be ready to go on Sunday.”
