The forward was on the scoresheet early in the first half for the Light Blues with a sumptuous finish, but a late equaliser from the visitors at Broadwood Stadium forced Rangers to settle for a share of the spoils.
Speaking to RangersTV after the match, Howat reflected: “I thought the 1-1 scoreline was quite fair.
“We were the better team in the first half and had a couple of good chances, then in the second half we weren’t quite on it.
“We took too many touches and didn’t move the ball quickly enough. It could be a big point in the run-in to the end of the season.
“We didn’t lose the game; we’ll take the positives and move onto Wednesday.
“It’s what wins teams leagues: taking points out of games that you shouldn’t.
“I don’t think we deserved to lose the game today, but it could be a massive point going into the end of the season.
“We didn’t lose the game and we’ll take that positive.”
Rangers had opportunities aplenty to add to their advantage in the first half, with Howat striking the post shortly before the interval.
The visitors grew into the contest in the second half and equalised through Amy Gallacher who was introduced as a substitute just moments earlier.
Howat continued: “We’ve done so well in terms of going and taking a lot of goals off teams, but we didn’t manage to do that today.
“We’ve had a couple of good chances and not managed to put them away.
“It’s about being clinical and taking chances when they come because they don’t come very often.
“We’ll take the point, reflect tomorrow, and go again on Wednesday.
“As long as it’s 1-0, anything they can get they take confidence from.
“They managed to do that today, but the pleasing thing is that we didn’t lose the game in the end. It was good that we managed to keep it at 1-1.”
The Light Blues trail Glasgow City and Hibernian – separated by goal difference – by a point at the summit of the SWPL table, with Jo Potter’s side making the trip to face league leaders City on Wednesday evening.
Howat said of the clash: “We know that every game is massive now. We have a big game on Wednesday and Glasgow City are a very good team.
“We need to make sure that we’re preparing properly this week going into Wednesday having done our homework.
“We’ll know the challenges that they’ll bring, and we really need to be on our game on Wednesday.”
