The Light Blues put three beyond Glasgow City without reply at the national stadium to seal a second successive triumph in the competition.
Howat was on the scoresheet twice, either side of half-time, as she capped off a terrific individual display.
Speaking to RangersTV on the pitch after the victory, she commented: “We’re delighted.
“We had a tough week off the back of last week; it took us a while to get over it.
“We managed to put in an unbelievable performance to end the season on a high.
“It took us a long time to get over last week; it’s still hurting.
“The character we’ve shown today to come here, put in a dominant performance, and get another trophy under our belt shows how resilient we are.
“Jo [Potter] said that we need to stick together and put it right today; that we can’t be in a lull for too long.
“We’re human beings at the end of the day and it hurts; we put in so much effort day in, day out, and last week wasn’t to be.
“But to show resilience, come back, and put in a dominant performance to win another Scottish Cup, it means we end the season on a high.”
The victory secured a second cup double in a row for the Gers under the tutelage of Jo Potter.
Howat believes it’s important that the players enjoy this afternoon’s success – earned against the side who leapfrogged the Light Blues to UEFA Champions League qualification last weekend – but says the side have the ultimate prize in sight next season.
She added: “It would have been easy to sit back and protect that 1-0, but it’s not really in us to do that. We want to go and dominate games and score more goals.
“We managed to get the second late in the second half which settled us before half-time.
“We love these occasions and it’s why we’re at this club. We want to win trophies, and we’ve turned up again today when it’s mattered.
“We proved that in the Sky Sports Cup as well and, to be honest, we probably could have had another five, six or seven today, so we need to be more clinical.
“We’re all delighted and it’s what we deserve.
“It’s our goal every season and there’s no shying away from the fact we want to win every trophy that we’re in.
“We didn’t manage to do that this year, which we’re still hurting from, but we’ll reflect and go again next season.”
